As 2023 has begun and we have begun planning of our fundraising events it was brought to my attention that no blog had been done for our major event of 2022- our Annual Superheroes Quiz Night! So here is a very brief rundown of how it went!
Our 2022 Superheroes Quiz Night event bought so many new challenges as we moved to the new outdoor courts location and wasn’t without it’s share of stress and logistical nightmares in the lead up to the event. All was forgotten though when the final numbers were crunched to realise the community had raised an astounding amount of just over $73000! This was made possible through the massive support we received from businesses either sponsoring the event or donating items to raffle or auction plus the support of all who attended on the night. We thank you all.
Highlights of the night were the between round games, judging of best dressed and the announcement from Rio Tinto of the amazing commitment to a community partnership of $100,000 over two years for provision of support services. Finishing off with tunes from Summer Vibes who were very patient in waiting for the Quiz component to finish so they could perform. Extra thanks to the beautiful and talented Nicole Bylund who donated back her fee for the night.
Last year’s event was a learning curve for Reach Us and we look forward to improving this year’s event with lessons learnt from last year! No fundraising event is possible without our volunteers and in 2022 we had an army of helpers! I am unable to name you all individually but thank you all with special mention to the Red Dog 4WD club, Karratha Water Polo Association, Marg Bertling of Sitepics-the superstar who showed up injured but still produced amazing images as always, Harro for stepping up as MC when Tony got Covid last minute, Sharon Vertigan and Gertrude O’Meara for assisting with judging, Trish and all the wonderful bar staff. Extra special thanks to our long suffering partners, some of whom also assisted with set up and helping on the night but all of whom put up with the endless planning meetings and time spent organising!
We are now on to planning our 2023 event which will hopefully be held on the 27th May, again on the Leisureplex outdoor courts (pending approvals) though this year the theme may just change- are you ready for a change?? Let’s see what our 2023 planners come up with.
